hey guys,

ok, so I have a 1978 cb400 hawk II that I've done some work to and after putting everything back together I see a strange problem.

I replaced the left-hand controls completely, there was an electrical problem with the horn button that started a small fire in the controls. The horn itself was also affected and replaced. After a rewire, I turn the bike on and everything seems fine while in neutral but If I switch gears all function from the left controls cuts out, no headlight, horn, turn signals.

I imagine I somehow rigged the power wrong and have made the gear change an on/off switch. Does anyone have some advice on this? Possibly a full wiring diagram of the left-hand controls?

Thank you,

Sounds like you have your ground wires routed through the control somehow.

Check the green wires in the headlight bucket and ensure they are all connected to green wires in the harness and not only green or green/red from the control.
