I would like to put a round tail light into the seat I made for my bike. I've looked in all of the local places I could think of for a simple trailer brake/running light and all I've found is 3 1/2 inch or bigger which won't work for me because the bigger diameter doesn't fit the seat. So I got on ebay and found some 2 1/2 inch lights, but they're LED lights. I really don't know much about LED's. Would I have to get some kind of converter to run a LED light? Can I just plug it in and go?

Bike is a '76 cb360t

Thanks,

Ben

Brake and taillights no issue with led's, just hookem up. And they look cool too. They wont work if you get positive/negative reversed though. The problems come when you use LED's on turn signals, most old school flashers rely on the current draw of conventional bulbs to make them flash.

Not if they are 12 volt....(meaning the brake/tail lights, not the turn signals).... Polarity IS critical however......

If using led signals the safest way (not hot resistors anywhere) is to wire in a no load flasher unit. They're designed for leds basically. Did it on my DRZ. Works like a charm. Normal flash rate.

Additionally, you can also use a regular tail-light that takes the traditional style of bulbs. Then just buy the Ebay special, led bulbs that fit the old sockets. It'd still ease a little of the charging systems pain..
