200$! The guy wanted to prove to me that it turned over with the starter and definitely smoked anything that could be smoked. but i still gave him his 200 since its mostly there and Reg/Recs on units in this condition are unlikely perfect anyways.

I'm thinking of clearcoating right over the patina. i like the scrappy look.

i might. I'm a rattle can hack though. my plan is to make it my daily ride, so i might have it painted professionally if i get the itch to look good.

perfect isn't really my style.

It looks perfect to me. If you fix it then you will need to keep it in a glass showcase and never ride it.

That bike is going to bring you a lot of joy! And what a great deal!
I would clean and maintain the bike (ok, maybe refurbish the backrest), but I would NOT mess with that tank!
I know I'm going to get nuts and bolts thrown at me, but seriously, I LOVE the tank just the way it is! The color, the character, I think it is great! I wouldn't clear coat it either, it got that way by it's own rights and took a long time to get that look. Everyone has their own taste, and I'm sure we'll find it interesting to see what you decide to do with it.

I really like it too. Maybe some kind of wax? I don’t want it to change much I just want to keep it aging appropriately.
