Hi all!

I have a CB450 Black Bomber I am working on. When I removed the fuel line from the carburetors, the little nub (don't know technical term) that connects the fule line for both carburetors stayed in the fuel line. I would have thought this would have been a permanent part of the carburetor, either cast in, sealed somehow, or threaded. If it was sealed in originally, did this just fail? If these are just friction fit, do I just tap it back in and call it good? \

The carburetors are original to the bike, but I don't know the make/model. They are just whatever was OEM for the bike.

Thanks for all the assistance you guys give on this site. It is really appreciated.

Not normal but does happen, they are press fit into the bodies and will pull out sometimes after years of use.

I would try to press them back in with a c-clamp so you don't damage to body with a hammer.

Thanks frogman79, I will give that a try.

Just a thought, would it be a good idea to put a SMALL dab of JB Weld on it, or is that just asking for trouble?

There is a contact adhesive called Seal All that is gas and oil resistant. Comes in a tube for a few bucks at automotive stores. Also found it at Ace Hardware. I’ve used it with success for exactly the fix you need to make.

That’s great. I will look for that. I would rather use a material that has already been tested and proven to work, rather than taking a chance on JB Weld.

I wouldn't classify using JB weld as taking a chance. It is fuel and oil resistant. Have a look at their website, they have some specialized products for certain applications and a good FAQ section, and a tips & tricks section last time I browsed through a few years ago.

My very favorite trick is adding a drop or three of acetone to the mix to help it flow and even self-level.
