Hey everyone, I’ve been struggling for a while with my 74 cl360. I’m pretty sure it’s not starting because the timing is off, but I don’t know if I’ve adjusted it right. When should the points close? Should they open when the LF and F marks are lined up? Any help is greatly appreciated

Pre-gapped at alignment with advance unit hash mark to (.014"), the Left (exhaust side/front) point MUST break (open) at exactly LF alignment on the left cylinders COMPRESSION stroke....

Easiest way to be sure you are on the correct stroke is to watch the left intake valve...
It will open (push down) and then close (rocker/tappet comes back up) with about one third of a turn more (CCW) before the correct LF alignment... (LF mark about 2:30 or 4:00...... Calling the index about 11:00.)
Correct F alignment for right cylinder is 180 degrees: or 1/2 turn (CCW) past that correct LF mark alignment...

Phone while at bike if you need to.....540-525-5199....Steve
