Hi guys
Ive started to strip back my 70 CL450 to see what needs doing to get her going again.
The ignition leads are falling to bits and a friend of mine has some new coils and leads sitting around that I can have....but theyre off his old CB750 that he used to own.
My question is...will these fit and work? or will I run into dramas?
Thanks
Jordan

They wont work, CB750s use double-ended coils(two plug leads).

Many on this forum have managed to repair the leads on old coils, a matter of soldering on new solid core wires and a judicious use of heat shrink and some substance to support it at the coil end, I used several layers of Araldite.
That is of course if the coils are still in good working order?

Yep, you can dremmel out the area on the old coils where the wire enters and solder on new plug wires. Use jb weld to fill in the hollowed out area. Done. Not very pretty, but it works fine As long as the coils are still good.
or you can cut the old wire back by the coil and splice new wire to it. Cover the area with fuel line to support it, then wrap it up with heat shrink.

I replaced mine with Yamaha coils, they have replaceable cables. Any pair of RD or XS650/500/750 twin will work. Requires bracket work.
