I feel like there's some huge brain fart going on, but I get the clearance for this thing to come out. As the manual says, I removed the points cover and all it's contents, the tach base, then the covers/journals on the end of the shaft on each side. The manual just shows it lifting right out at this point, but mine will not. What am I missing?

Move it left (out the points side) as far as it will go..... The tach side end will then lift out (IF the lobes are in the correct orientation) ...Hard to explain further, you'll see when you move it left....and rotate ...

Yeah, that's what I thought. It seemed pretty straight forward. After much jiggling, I realized the small metal ring that mates the tach drive and camshaft was still in the cam, making it about an 1/8th too long to come out of the head. I just thought it was part of the cam but it came right out when I grabbed it with some needlenose pliers. Gotta love a simple solution that makes you feel dumber than hell!
