Hi I am working on a 1966 CB450. The starter wont crank. The solenoid clicks. Voltage at battery 12.4 volt. Voltage at starter motor, and winker wiring 8.8 volt. Is this Ok? Thanks

No, it's not OK. You have a high resistance in the cabling, somewhere. If you have cleaned the battery terminal connections, and the connections at the starter relay, next is the battery negative cable where it attaches at the frame and the rear of the transmission. I use DeoxIT with a brass brush to make sure all surfaces are clean and good conductors. Make sure you feel the cable for unusual stiffness, or a 'crunchy' feeling when you flex it, which is a sign the cable is failing inside the insulation.

What does the battery read for voltage, with the start button pushed?

Thank you for your help. I cleaned negative cable, and voltage is now 12,3 on all connections!

Unfortunately I can now conclude the starter motor is not working. I dissambled the starter motor:
-The coil has hit the housing;
-The brushes seem worn.


What should be replaced bushing, seals, and brushes???
