Hey all,

I've got a 72 twin that idles great at 1k rpm when either cylinder is ran on its own, but when I put the wire back on the other plug so both cylinders are running, the idle surges to 2000 rpm. I can get it down to about 1600 by adjusting the mixture screw, but at this point it runs too rich. This is also with the stop screws adjusted to where the butterfly is barely open. What are the possible reasons this could be happening? Seems if it were an air leak, or clogged air filters, the bike wouldn't idle well on the problematic cylinder while it runs solo, but maybe not?

Compression is good, bike starts right up. It has had a cylinder rebore, new pistons and rings, a valve job,all new gaskets, carbs rebuilt. Ive only had it running for a little while before I did this work due to a cracked ring, but it was doing this prior to being taken apart as well.

Without a model referenced in your post it is very difficult to provide suggestions.
