Hello, all,
My name is Finch and I'm excited to be a part of these forums!
I live just North of Austin, TX and have recently picked up a 1970 CL350K2 basket case. Frame looked good (from what I can tell), but the engine is completely dismantled, and has been for over a year. ? Additionally, the tank has more barnacles than St. Augustine, so I think it's beyond repair.
So to expedite my progress, I bought a complete 1969 CB350K1 (Type-1 on the side cover?) engine and a CB350 tank in good condition. The engine seems to be in good shape, and was running before I took it home, but needs a good cleaning.
My goals are to create a cafe build similar to the Cognito Moto "Fox CB350 Build," clean the engine and potentially overhaul everything in stages, then completely upgrade the electrical system, carbs, and suspension. Basically, I just want a reliable bike to cruise around town during nice weather, and something to admire in the garage during bad weather.
I've done a lot of small-engine repair, and some automotive work, and am generally pretty mechanically inclined, but I'm a beginner when it comes to motorcycles and their maintenance. Luckily, I'll have a "spare" engine for parts and to practice on while working on the good one.
Any advice y'all have will be greatly appreciated, and I look forward to a lot of wrenching.
