The allen bolt just turns (the bolt at the base of the slider), the Clymers says " if you are unable to remove it, take the fork tubes to a dealer and have them remove the screws (pg 123), and the Honda Service Manual uses a Honda specific tool not pictured.

I have a small air compressor, but not a pneumatic driver/allen bits. Does this mean I have to buy one or can someone recommend a laymans bodge tool/technique?

I've never had a bike/part serviced at a dealership and dont intent to...my pride is at stake...

Buy the Allens (socket drive type, long ) and find a local "mechanic" with an air-impact you can use at his shop.... Someone you know has one.....Compress fork as the bolt is spun...... A "hammer drill" can be made to work ....

I was thinking along the lines of using my hammer drill in reverse gear with a sawn off allen key...I'll get back with my results when I find the time to experiment.
