I'm in the process of finalizing the engine rebuild on CL160. While setting the valve clearance, the master link broke and timing chain dropped into the crankcase. I pulled the cylinder head cover, fished the chain out, and discovered a small piece of the master link went missing. I pulled the head and cylinder and dug around with a telescoping magnet to no avail. Does anyone have any tricks to finding small pieces without splitting the case again?

Pull the bottom drain plug plate off, you may get lucky and reach it from there.

I pulled head and cylinder off, I can see the drain plug. I can't see any pieces anywhere.....Magnet picked up nothing.

I have taken the magnet out of a pocket screwdriver and put it in a battery hose and a piece of wire inside to reach around difficult areas

Pull the primary drive and the oil pump, then you can reach in from the side with your magnet.
