To my knowledge, the bearings and pivot pins are not different. So cam, sprocket and followers need to match. Also the cam casing are slightly different but can be made to work. A fat cam does not always fit in a skinny cam casing, or the other way around. I am not sure anymore. You can dremel out some material to make it work.
Redline and profile of the lobes on both cams is similar. But there's also a really early type of fat cam that has a slightly higher redline. Those are pretty rare.
