Dustin, the JC Whitney mufflers are similar to three of those four pics..... I'm simply going to extend the CL pipes and use internal baffling....Something like the pipes in this bike pic..... Steve

I have the Dunstall Megaphones from JC Whitney. Their ok. A little louder than I would like and the chrome is super-thin but for the money and availability they do the job.
(How's that for a ringing endorsement)

Mope -

I have the same mufflers on Wifey's CB200, and thinking about them for the CB450 I'm finishing up.

You're right, they're a little loud, but not offensive - and the price is great.

They're from Emgo, who makes nearly all the aftermarkets out there.

I think Mac makes 2-into-1's for 350's - they look pretty good, around $300 I think.

I'm considering something like this, myself and they are available from
Mike's XS.Com.

Just click on the link and scroll down, you'll see the specs and the prices

Hope that helps give more options, Bill

BTW, there are also more parts there that aren't just for the XS650 Yam. ;)

I decided to skip the pipes for now and save for a mac 2-into-1. So I just installed a set of drag-pipe baffles in my cut-off CL pipes.

Calmed my idle down and restored back pressure.

Now I can tune my carbs as this is the setup I will be running for a while.
help me out on this though. I really don't know much about syncing carbs and stuff.
For those of you that don't remember or never knew. I have a 72 CL350 with Mikuni vm32 carbs.
I can hold my hand over the pipe to the right hand cylinder and get pretty much no change.
When I hold my hand over the left hand cylinder pipe my bike dies. (Kinda like i turn on the choke)
Where to start?

the first question is what type of head pipes do you have on now? on a xs650? you may have to extend the headers slightly to get them far enough back to mount properly, but sportster muffler are really well made and cheap! about 20 bucks at a swap meet, find a pair without the interconnections and the mounting brackets are different on different years look at them to see how you would have to fab up some mounts I've got a set for my 650 that have the slotted backets on the back like a universal muffler but the metal is much thicker than a cheap muffler so you don't have that cracking out problem
