I never did really learn how to weld but I have brazed-on small sheet metal 'patches' to many spots on oem stock motorcycle mufflers and they were good for many years after that,cosmetically it looks repaired but my customers didn't care about that.I usually did that type of repair on the bottoms or back sides of the mufflers.A good tig welder person can fix that right up no problem.
