I have a 78 CB400 HawkII and a guy locally is selling a 79 CB400. I need some parts, (carb, cam, etc.) if I pick up his bike will the parts all swap over fine?

I don't believe there is a problem with compatibility but cam, carb and etc. changeover might not be a good way to go. Things like cams have pattern wear specific to an engine.

What have you got now?

Parts from either bike will fit one another as far as fitment goes.
