Checking Western Honda in AZ for front fork seals for my 1971 CL450K4, shows two pages with different configurations. First FRONT FORK page shows seal #22 as part # 91255-KBH-003 size of 35x48x11. Second page shows seal #31 as part # 91255-300-013 or 91255-292-003, both sized at 35x46x11. When I called and spoke with parts they said they only show one selection on the pull down menu for FRONT FORKS, not the two that I see. Really? Not much help there.....

https://shop.westernhonda.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?fveh=12576&category=Motorcycles&year=1971&make=Honda&section=3080455

Then called Huntington Beach Honda, they call for part # 91255-KBH-003 sized at 35x48x11.

Also, cmsnl shows 4 different part numbers for seal #31, but no sizing.

https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cl450-scrambler-1971-k4-usa_model556/partslist/F++0801.html#.XPambIplChD

Little help please as I have limited room for work space right now and really can’t tear this down and leave it in pieces for maybe weeks to get the correct fork seals.

Thanks,
John

John, it's usually pointless to call local shop since most there aren't familiar and the bike is likely older than they are as well. Here's the listing from cmsnl.com and though there are, and certainly can be, mistakes here and there, they are usually right. Does show 2 part numbers but one supersedes the other, both with the same dimensions. #31 in the fiche

Are your forks "top bolt" into/through the bridge (As shown in the drawing Tom posted) OR,
Does the bridge have "pinch clamps" for the forks (and the bolt simply seals the tubes rather than affix them to the bridge)?

Hats off to Steve - I'm just trying to follow in his footsteps (while regurgitating info from my narrow-focus memory of Hondas and the internet)

And doing a great job!...You remembered the K4/K5 sizing change, while I only remembered there was a difference by attachment to bridge, not by specific "K"....Hats off to you!.....

Thanks Steve - but if I had the wide and deep swath of Honda knowledge that you have, I'd be better at helping in general... the bikes I spent the most time with in the short years I was still involved before going to work for the City of Tampa working on farm equipment (read: late '60s to mid '70s Harleys) essentially over-wrote much of my accumulated data... and once that happened, for some reason the 450 and to an extent, the 350 and 175, stuck in the back of the chasm. And sadly, I was out of circulation while learning the farm equipment and later enjoying (and reveling in) working on the Kawasakis they bought and so many new models came and went that I was never exposed to - the entire SOHC twins series and most if not all of their other products... so after my child support ended almost 10 years ago I was able to become involved again and the memories resurfaced about the thing I spent the most time with :D really glad it was still in there!
