It has recently been brought to my attention that several members have "cooked" their ignition coils..........
When working on the bikes' electricals, turn the "kill" switch to off..... This eliminates the power running through a coil and overheating it if the points are closed.....This does not apply when setting the timing of course, but only turn the key "on" when actually conducting the process.... turn it back off until you need power to check it out....or work faster......

Indeed Steve. When installing the electronic ignition, the installation instructions warned me of this and to tell you the truth, it was the first time I heard of such a thing. Maybe that is why the coil I had before the upgrade stopped working...

Can we make this warning flash in red letters on the main webpage? haha jk
