i was told by a mechanic friend, that my collar inside the swingarm was no good. how do these wear out ? from the up and down action ? i replaced the bushings, but i still have alot of play. do i need to machine a new collar ? i have ordered new bushings from bob franzke. any idea if his bushings would be any better. thanks

The collars are no longer available from Honda...IF you can get one machined that would be the way to go.....They are hardened high-carbon steel (tool steel)....

I think I read on the old 450 Forum that some guys had machined new ones from stainless, worked pretty well.
The manual gives all the pertinent specs.

They do wear out and are very hard to find....

Stainless would be excellent as it "work hardens", but can be a B*&#h to machine......

so, use the collar i have, get it chromed. what do you mean reground ? is that to fit ? thanks,
