CM400 - Best way to get a good condition clutch actuator

181 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Xerosol
My clutch has the dreaded "won't disengage at high RPMs" problem. From reading up about the issue, I need a new clutch actuator/clutch lever inside the right crankcase cover. I'm confident in changing it, but the part has been long discontinued. Since this part is known to wear, I'm hesitant to buy one used off eBay. Can anyone advise what I should do to be sure I'm buying one in good condition?

Are you sure it's the actuator & not the cable or clutch discs? Disconnect both sides of the clutch cable & try to slide the cable back & forth, it should move freely.
Thanks for dropping a line. I've already replaced the cable and properly lubed the new one, thinking that was the problem with the old one.
I forgot to mention, my actuator is at the wrong angle, indicating it's worn down. I think it's around 100-110 degrees when it's supposed to be 120 degrees.

That's great! Thank you for linking that website. Are those all new parts? I didn't think it was possible to buy the actuator new anymore at all.
