Is anyone familiar with a source for a clutch basket for my '81 cm400 custom ? I drilled out the rivets on another old one I had and the rubber biscuits had hardened and shrunk. I imagine any used basket is going to have this problem. I've bought 2 used from ebay and they rattle worse than the one that came on the bike.

That is a typical problem with Honda clutches.
I put a brand new basket into my 1983 CB1100F engine just before that bike was killed by a woman driver a couple of years ago and I put a freshly rebuilt clutch basket in my CBX just the other day.
The guy that rebuilt my clutch basket is not doing anymore because he is not happy with how they came out, still making a little noise at idle.
You can also try your local Honda dealer, they may still have that basket in the American Honda warehouse.
It is still listed on the micro fiche for $131.95
