Hello all, I'm looking for some assistance on putting a cb450 cylinder head back together. I have 3 of them to do.
one is a 1968, one 1970 and the last is a 1971. all three were stuck when i got them. I will have two cb450's and one cl450 when done.I Gotta get-er-Dun.
I did one and I have done something wrong it started and ran but compression on one side is 95 and the other is 60 lbs. timing and valve's adjusted a few times.I think the valves may be open a bit.
I'm missing something in this foggy old brain, the head was cleaned,valves re-seated cams and cam chain were set up with proper marks on head lined up.Cylinders honed new rings and new gaskets.

If you're certain that you performed the compression test properly, the next step would be to find out where the compression is going. A leak down test will tell you if your compression is leaking past the valves or past the rings. If it passes the leak down test, I would double, than triple check the cam timing. The timing marks on the cams can be very hard to see.

Can you get the .0012" feeler gauge in between the cam and rocker? the only way the valve would not close would be if the valve was tight. Did you grind the valves? If so the valve will recess into the head and the stem needs to be shortened. If the stem is long it is difficult to get the cam in.

Valve won't close if it is bent as well....doesn't take much to bend them either.
