Hello,
Ok maybe I was suppose to post here. 1971 cl350 the kick start spring perch broke off so I am intending to run electric start only. With the clutch cover off I can move the shaft freely in and out about 3/16 of an inch, doesn’t feel like there is any internal spring pressure. So what if anything can be removed from the engine if I’m not using the kick start and should I go in and check it out?

A dedicated kick starter thread.....find your bike on CMSNL.com to see what's involved with the kick start mechanism...

To remove the mechanism is engine out, strip so lower case can be removed, remove the shaft etc. and make a plug for the shaft hole in the clutch cover.

Whilst the engine is apart, can the broken k/start spring "perch" be repaired/welded ?

A lot of effort to remove the shaft etc. so why no go the extra yard and fix the kick start ?

You could I suppose arrange for the kick start pedal to be secured in the "off" position, only using it when needed ?
