Hi. I've been working to free the cam from the head of my CB77 and am running into issues. I've read many posts, but nothing seems to work. I've been able to remove half of the cam on the side opposite the notched locking nut (next to sprocket). However, I am not successful in getting the locking nut to loosen so that I can remove the other half. My understanding is that this is a left hand thread nut. What I've attempted so far is to drive a wedge of oak wood between the cam sprocket and the head housing and to strike the notched locking nut with a bar to loosen.

Can anyone educate me on what i'm doing wrong?

Some are right handed thread. I have never been able to hold the cam with a block of wood. I made a tool out of and old cam chain and a piece of metal to hold it. The piece of metal is attached to the chain making a "T". I wrap the chain around the cam sprocket, and the piece of metal rests against the head keeping the cam from turning while removing the nut.
