I'm rebuilding my CB450k1 after a long (very very long) restoration. Now I 'm wondering which chain to run. I don't find any references on the original chain, but I assume it's a plain 530?

But I'd love to run a x/o-ring chain. I did the same thing on my CB500f and it fits with about 1mm to spare. Will a o-ring like the 530VX DID fit or will it eat away the engine case?

The issue is the clutch lifter swinging into it. You can bend the arm enough that it doesn't hit. 520 conversion is the best way to deal.

Thanks for the swift reply. What do I need for the 520 conversion, and where do I get it?

It would probably be easier to get a standard 530 chain. You should still get very long chain life out of a standard roller chain. You'll have to replace both sprockets to go 520. So, you'll have to go aftermarket , probably special order as well.
