Will a CB750 swing arm fit on a CB450 frame?

Somebody correct me, if I'm wrong, but I believe it is said that he 750 swingarm will fit, but is some shorter. This will change up your handling but not sure exactly how (like quicker turning but not as good for straight line handling?).

Later on, Bill ;)

Where's Steve when you need him ??!!
He would know for sure.

Just guessing (I really don't know, I've never tried it), I'd think it might be too wide to fit in the frame.
They do use the same bushings, but the swingarm bolts are different part numbers entirely.
Re: CB450 vs CB750

Thinking of going with a rear disc brake off of a CB750F??? Or??

I considered it but have my hands full enough already with my wheel swap..

Re: CB450 vs CB750

Somebody on the Horse board (ironcross.net) has an extended swingarm for a 750. It is extended 9 inches, which is a lot. I was just contemplating what it might look like on a 450. Just idle thoughts...

Yeah Bill, as I'm thinking about it, I think you are right that the 750 swingarm might just be a bit too wide for the 450 frame. Now, with some creative trimming on the mount tube of the swingarm (if the rest would fit between the frame rails. Probably be too much work and end up not working anyway. I DO know that it will fit the 500/550 fours, but that piece of info won't help here, huh? Just some last minute "Duh" answers from me before the end of the year, I guess. Now, maybe I can get back on track. ;)
Re: CB450 vs CB750

750 arm WON'T fit (stock).... It is a 360 arm that bolts on and is longer, but uses a smaller diameter axle.....

Steve do you know how much longer the 360 swing-arm is then the 450's and approximately how much lower would that make the rear end of my bike sit? I was thinking the longer swing-arm might give the bike a lower sleeker look. Does this mean I would have to run a 360 rear wheel too, or can I get the smaller axle to work in the 450 rear?

Thanks for your time.
Re: CB450 vs CB750

It "drops" the rear end about 1 1/2 to 2 inches.... You can run a 350/360 rear wheel, or you can widen the swingarms adjustment slots to take the larger 450 axle.....

yup did that since i have a 360 arm, 1 1/2 farther back on the lower shock mounts lowers rear of the bike making getting it up on the center stand a PITA widened the SA axle slots to use 450 axle and adjusters chain + 4 links, modded the 360 chain guard to fit had to shorten front about a inch to fit front sprocket cover

Re: CB450 vs CB750

Awesome guys that is what I wanted to know. Great photos man! The hunt of a doaner 360 swing arm is on...
Since there has been some recent discussion about this topic I dug this thread out modified the title a bit and stickied it. Have an easy place to point people now.

:D :D
Sounds like it has been a hit Franz :D
I know this is a bit of an old thread.

However out of interest I understand this is a swing arm from a CB350 (and not a CB350F), is the CB350 swing arm longer than that of a 500t and if so by how much?
It's a 360 model swingarm, they have one long pivot tube like the 450s. 350s have 2 smaller pivot tubes.

The 360 swinger is right at an 1" longer than a 450 swinger. I have no comparison to a 500t.
Thats around about the same increase in length of the 500t swing over the 450. Although Sprint66 seems to suggest here the 360 has a longer swing than the 500t.

Well there ya go. I was going to start a thread asking what swing arm will fit the 450 frame and I find this thread. No to hunt down a 360 swing arm. This forums just keeps giving.
