I realize that spacers are required on the left and right sides of the CB450 upper fork bridge, but is a spacer required for the steering stem clamping area? A few hours of searching on google and this forum failed to provide an answer for me.

Mine has no spacer, probably because that part of the bridge is so much stronger than where the fork tubes fit.

I don’t think my top tree came with ANY spacers. Which is probably why I had to replace it...

What do they look like, and if anyone has a preferred source, do share!

Looks like a hardware store flat washer, with one flat side filed on it.

It needs to be a very specific thickness -unfortunately I don't know what that is.
The upper clamp is aluminum, much easier to break than the lower, which is steel.
