I am wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for installing the swing arm. There is plenty of room without the plastic washer and felt, but it won''t go in with them.
I am about ready to place a scissors jack in there and pry it open.

Make sure the parts are all there, dust cap, bushing and felt washer. It should go together like the attachment shows. Did you change the bushings? Maybe they are not fully seated. Don't leave anything out. It is designed to be a tight fit. You don't want any slop, it will make the bike wobble.

I removed it because I stripped it down to the frame to blast it and paint it. But now that you mention it, I suppose I could have left it on.

I didn't replace the bushings, but I am using new dust seal caps and felt rings.

From the diagram and from my parts manual it looks like the dust seal cap and felt belong on the inside of the swing arm. Is that correct?

That is how I put mine together. Use lots of grease.
