I've got a 74 CB360g that I just disassembled, cleaned, and put back together. I've noticed that the stator gets hot whenever it is plugged in, key on or off. Doesnt matter if rectifier is hooked up or not. Also noticed that it arc's when I unplug it. Any ideas?

You have a wiring issue, I would make sure it is plugged into the correct plug in that area, there are two that are similar, the wire colors should match. There should be copies of the shop manual for the bike in the 360 section, wiring harness diagrams are easy to google up on the old interwebs.

Pretty sure Franz hit it on the head....You apparently have the stator connector plugging into the harness rectifier connection....
That appears to be the only way battery voltage (with key off) can go to anywhere on the bike.....
ALL FOUR wire colors in each connector MUST match....
Confusion happens because both rectifier and alternator connectors contain Pink wires and Yellow wires
