As a newB, it took a lot of time to understand how to replace the rectifier. Now that I understand, wanted to summarize.
This is just a summary of what is already posted here cheap regulator/rectifier upgrade! All the Credit should go to Nick and others. I've used their image for reference, as I've not swapped the rectifier yet.

Original Honda Rectifier is a 4PIN rectifier (un-regulated) with Green being ground - Yellow and Pink taking in AC from the Alternator and Red/Red-Wh giving out un-regulated output. This works along with a 12V regulator, which we don't need after replacing the rectifier.
The original Honda regulator has 3wires:
Green is Ground
Yellow is AC
Black - 12V

Kohler part number 25-755-03 - This is a 12 V regulator-rectifier which is rated 15 amp.
Use the original Honda harness (4 Wire)
Rectifier Pin wiring - I couldn't upload or add a image through URL
Yellow and Pink can go to AC1 or AC2
  • Pink to AC1
  • Yellow wire to AC2
  • Red / Reg-white to B+ (Center pin)
  • Green to Ground (frame). Rectifier is grounded through the Body

After you rewire the new Rectifier, it should look like this - Thanks to Richard

Regulator
Get rid of the Regulator, as the new Rectifier is a regulator-rectifier. Disconnect all the wiring, and Tape it off, as Yellow is live (AC) from the alternator and Black is also 12V live.

Here is the post from Richard which shows before and after

Hope I've summarized everything.

Well I did plenty of reading & searching but that doesn't guarantee results. There are two routes to doing this mod...connections can be made to either the plug for the stator or the rectifier. I started doing it like this thread says, making connections with the rectifier fitting but other posts reference going the stator route & that is where the confusion came from. Some threads have tons of info...others, no so much. I asked in my own thread which connector I was supposed to be using for this mod & you were the only one to respond. I'm starting to notice a few names keep popping up when people are asking for help so I really pay attention to those comments. This whole thing has been a learning experience though so I can't complain. Ya'll really had to drag me into the 21st century with every other comment being "get a multimeter!" :D I really do appreciate your help Rob...this is a great message board.

... no one here knows it all, and no matter how much you do know... you can always learn more. Your right this forum is AWESOME! and it (IMO) due to the people and moderators.. This place continually answers my questions, and I owe many here thanks...
That being said the search engine isn't the greatest and may take more effort.. someone here posted a suggestion to use Google and add Honda Twin Forum to the search..,it keeps u here and seems more friendly
