Hey guys, I'm new to the page but was hoping I could get some information. I have a 1973 Honda cb350 and the battery is not charging. Bike runs pretty good, bike off battery voltage is 12.4v...at idle 12.5v...revved 12.6 v. Battery is new Motobat from Common Motor Collective, rectifier has been replaced with the Common Motor Collective reg./rec. combo, so also new.

I tested the stator, bike running and stator unplugged, tests done at plug:

pink to yellow 20-50 v ac
pink to white 20-50 v ac
white to yellow 6 v ac

I have tried three used cb350 stators in the bike, all with similar readings to the ones above. I have eliminated the wiring harness while testing with jumper leads... Stator yellow and white tied together and sent to yellow on rectifier. Pink from stator to pink on rectifier/reg., red to multimeter and still see no improvement. Any information will help thanks.

12.4 volts at rest isn't very good numbers for a new battery. I would have it load tested to make sure it's good. Bad batteries are known to cause charging issues, just because it's new doesn't mean it cant be defective.

Fully charge the battery then let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Take a voltage reading, anything below 12.6V means the battery is bad.
