Hello all,
My electric start clutch is skipping and not cranking the engine sometimes.The springs are new and the rollers look fine.
Out of the bike in my hand it turns one way and locks up in the opposite direction.Any suggestions as to what i should look for?
Any help is appreciated

rule is to replace all the pieces, springs, rollers and caps.

If, somehow, one or more rollers turned sideways, they behave like this, too. If the plate is worn, this can easily happen after a few uses.

Hi, you do not say which 450 it is ?

Model and year...

Is the engine still together or apart ?

The free wheel outer can crack...

The "gripping surface" can develope " waves ", like a rippled surface that may be difficult to see but can be felt.
