Dear Wrenchturning Detectives,

I have a ‘68 CB 450 stock everything, with scrambler pipes, everything rebuilt/adjusted spot on, carbs, timing, valves all triple checked, air filters from Scrambler Cycle, new coils. The bike likes to run at a half turn out on the pilot screw, any more and the plugs get black after a couple of hours.

Should I run it at 1/2 turn out on pilot?

Thoughts, advice gladly appreciatively accepted. -David

So your saying if you ride it 1/2 out its fine, anything more and the plugs are fouled after riding?

The factory setting is one turn out, doesn't necessarily apply with today's gasoline formulas. If it runs well at 1/2 turn that's where I would run it.
