Hi
Need a bit of advice regarding top end noise on my CB360 twin.
There is quite a loud tapping noise from the top end. It starts and runs well but the noise is annoying especially at tick over. I have reset the valve clearances to the manual but the noise doesn’t sound like that anyway. Also tensioned the cam chain. When I turn the engine over by hand there is a definite clunk as the engine passes over TDC.
I have no idea what this can be. Could it be the cam lobes are too worn?
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Regards Paul

Little bit of an embarrassing thing to admit but the first 3 times I adjusted the valves on my bike I didn't realize I was pushing down on the adjuster by holding the screwdriver in the slot while measuring the gap. I would get the right feel on the feeler gauge and then tighten the adjuster. But when I'd start up, the thing sounded as bad as it had before I tried fixing it.

I finally realized what I was doing and did the adjustment without pressure on the adjuster. Now it sounds much more like a sewing machine than a typewriter.

Maybe that's not what you are dealing with but I thought I'd put it out there in case it could help somebody.
