I have striped threads for the two 5 mm screws that hold the cable bracket to the carburetor on my CB450 K3. At the moment they are held by slightly longer screws which gives them a few threads grip, but I would be happier if there was a way to fit a helicoil or some such device. But looking at the clarences I wonder if there is sufficient metal round the hole to do anything like that?
Has anyone found a way to fix this problem?
Thanks for any help!

You have some choices. A bigger self tapping American size machine screw maybe a size #12. Drill it deeper and tap out to 5mm, if there is material. Or Loctite form-a -thread.

Thanks for the suggestions, had a look after cleaning and decided to leave it as is for now. Think if worst comes to worst I will tap it out to 6mm.
Stay upright!
