On my 1971 carburetors I read that the measurement for float height is 19mm. However that's way too small. Even if I mechanically bottom the floats to the top of the carburetor body, 19mm is too low to clear the tool over the top of the float chambers.

Observe:

So I'm curious what's up, or if there's a different measurement and I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks!

I have a set of carbs from a '72 K5 CB350 and it's the same story. There's no way 19mm is doable because the floats can't even go down that far. Both sets of carbs are presumably stock with the original needles and seats and floats.

Firstly, a 71 would be a K3 and have a 26mm spec.....Same spec for the 72 K4

I just looked at the service manual posted here and it said 19mm as did a few places I hit on google like advrider, etc...

26mm makes much more sense. Time to cut the credit card some more. Thanks!

My carbs are the 3-D marked ones.

I've posted links to two 350 manuals here, an early one and a later one.
And as I've said before, both of them contain errors.......

All is well. I've got them set now. I was just stumped since Ive done CB750 float adjustments the same way in the past without clearance issues.

I found that hammering a razor blade into the credit card was an easy way to make a straight line.
