so I rode into boston this morning and the bike was a little boggy off idle, and then its idle became very low 8-900 rps about 5 blocks from work. I checked my idle air screws, and they were uneven by about a half turn, adjusted them for beter idle and throttle responce about 2.5 turns out for this exhaust, think im pretty happy with it, see when I ride home.... then I noticed that my left screw is inset about 1/16" snd the right carb air screw is flush? is this just a manufacturing tollerance error, or is it something I should bother investigating?

I don't have a cb450 but on the cb350 carbs there is a rubber oring in the air jet to seal it.
if you have one on one carb and not the other that could explain your rough idling condition as well as why one sticks out farther than the other
