As some of you know Im working on a CA 160 for a customer. Its been sitting in the shop covered up for the last 4 months due to lake of funding. New clutch cable but unable to adjust so took the cover off and found the clutch rusted some but repairable. Now the problem. Whoever worked on this motor before me sealed the gasket to the case. With the cover off the crank shaft brg along with other bits and pieces are exposed and Im afraid cleaning the gasket will drop pieces into places you dont want it to go. If it was mine I would tear it down and do what ever was needed but the owner doesnt have the money.

Any ideas on how to clean it off without taking it apart??

Should I

1, put it back on and hope it doesnt leak.

2, add a second gasket.

3, put sealant on the outer case and let the next guy worry about it.

4, tell the owner and let him decide.

I have a lot of time and effort in this bike and I dont want any bike leaving the shop thats not the best I can make it.

Ok thought I would get some pros or cons. The correct thing to do would be to tear it down but the owner cant afford it . Right or wrong I will add a second gasket.
