Has anyone used a battery eliminator in a CL 160 or similar. My understanding is the battery needs to be in the system for all to work? I don;t have a starter, It is available from Oregon Motorcycle Parts. Thanks for any input. Bruce [email protected]
As long as the alternator puts out enough juice, at cranking speed, to fire the coils it should work. Points only, you won't have enough current at low speed to keep an electronic ignition happy. Putting a large capacitor in place of the battery will help. It definitely won't start with the lights on and you will need to keep the idle up at stop signs to keep up with the draw from the brake light.
