Just curious if anyone had a decent step-by-step or how-to on tuning carbs on a 1982 cm450E.

I think I would benefit greatly from a more seasoned mechanic's wisdom the subject.

I have the Shop manual that someone posted while back which has a decent rundown of this, but I think a veteran 450 rider would be a better resource.

There really isn't much "tuning" to these carbs. Mixture issues are corrected by changing jets, generally the primary main jet. There is a fix for issues pertaining to your specific bike:
