Hello I'm new to your site. I have a question regarding the advance plates and springs on a 73' CL350. I was brought this cycle sometime ago. Sat for 20 years. It looks
like somebody was playing with it. The question is the short tube that is bolted to the cam there is a line on the outside. Where is that line suppose to be on the cam.
I can time the left side but the right side i'm having problems.

Thanks

Sounds like you mean the mark on the points cam? If so it's possible that the cam is 180* out and throwing off your timing. Try removing the points cam; rotating it 180* and reassembling the unit then retiming the points.
Also you could check out the "how to" videos from common-motor.com in the side box of the home page they cover your model and are very informative.
Nigel.

I've never paid attention to the relationship of that line to the camshaft. The notch should point to the arrow on the advance plate. The advance plate has a notch on the back side that fits to a nub on the camshaft.
