Hello all, I’m currently working on my project bike, a 1980 CM400E. As I’m sure you all know, the E model came with only a speedo and where the tach would normally be is where the neutral, oil and high beam lights are. I would really like to just take a gauge cluster from a CM400T or something and slap it on. The question is will I be able and how would I go about hooking up the tachometer to the engine. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

You'd need to replace that clutch cover with one equipped with a clutch drive. There's a thread here somewhere, brb.

Try this: Stock Tachometers, How to add one

And I've got a tach for sale that fits in that "pod" with the speedometer on a CB400T, I don't know if it'll fit the dash board light housing on the right side of a CM400.
It's not 100% perfect has some nicks on the bezel but it works.

I can post it in the parts for sale section if a moderator would rather, but I thought I'd put it up and get pics if interest develops.
