It appears that theres a piece of metal sitting on top of my passenger side valve. Whats gonna be the easiest way to retrieve this. Do i need to drop the entire engine?

Pull the carb off, if it's a piece of steel you maybe try a magnet. If that doesn't work duct tape a length of 1/4 inch gas line hose to the end of a shop vac hose and try sucking it out.

Can you post a photo? Are you talking about in the combustion chamber? Or the valve stem and spring area?

Picture will help. Note that this has twin intake valves and the intake port has a divider wall in the middle which might be what you're seeing.

Thats not a very good picture dude, take a better one. The divide ldr talks of is alloy and quite "sharp"......being tapered to some extent.

Can i see a gargoilies face and a red eye???

Is the piece sticking down ?? alloy and has the divide been "attacked"???
