Hello, I have been a long time lurker of project bikes and last year I bought one! It’s a Honda cm450c here is my progress so far! And yes it’s my first project so it’s not amazing.
in the beginning:
Land vehicle Vehicle Motorcycle Motor vehicle Automotive tire

the rust was intensive over the whole bike to the point where I couldn't use the tank anymore the seat would of had to be reupholstered.
Land vehicle Vehicle Motorcycle Motor vehicle Car

I found a cb650 tank and basically hammered it till it fit on and painted it yellow along with the side panels and I rode it around like this for a while.. then I decided I didn’t like it... so I tore it apart. And cut the rear part of the frame for a hoop

Then I got the hoop welded on and now I am here:

The end goal is to make it look like this\/
But with scrambler bars and a custom seat.

the problem I have to overcome at the moment is that the hoop hits the rear wheel when going over a big bump...

Anyone have any suggestions for a speedometer that has the neutral light, high beam light and turn signal lights? The cheap amazon ones seem like crap. Looking for 50-150 at most?

I'm not entirely sure the Ebay Km speedometers are actually crap. To me they seem exactly the same as the drag specialties units or the ebay MPH units. I'll have to actually get one myself to be sure though, but a neighbor here ran one for 2 years on a 'cafe'd' ninja 500 before he moved away, he said it worked as well as stock, and was happy enough.

I've seen kmh versions as low as $5.99 USD, I'm not sure why I've never pulled the trigger on one...

Welcome Colby. Nice bike and pictures. Interesting project. At first glance to me, it seems that you could get 1: a smaller rear tire, 2: stiffer rear springs or longer shocks, 3: heat and bend the rear hoop for more clearance, or 4: stop taking it off road! LOL. That's no fun, right! Good luck.

I can attest to the inexpensive Drag Specialties-styled tachometers on eBay - if they're anything like the two different ones my Dad ordered for the last bike he owned, they suck. No matter how they were wired according to their instructions, they never worked right and were obviously incredibly inaccurate.

I would use one to keep legal if needed, but no other reason.

I'd like to make a custom 6" speedometer cable and mount the speedo on the front of the 2 axle cap bolts. You need a speedometer to be legal in MA but they don't say where you have to mount it or how accurate it has to be.

So I Bought this one and so far it’s not bad at all solid build and it’s only 30$ ca This one! I did all the wiring and now am in need of a battery. I bought the motomaster 12a-a last year for it and am looking to get a lithium ion one. Anyone know if This on is compatible with my bike? Help would be much appreciated as I am clueless when it comes to batteries.

You'll need diodes for the turn signals to work off one indicator bulb.
2nd link for the battery comes up "blocked" so no idea. You might contact Sparckmoto.com about the diodes and battery.

Alright. I just bought an AGM battery and it fired right up first try. So now in order to take it for a spin I need breaks... a little important.
My parents busted my brake master cylinder on the bike and I am looking for a new one. Cheap preferably. I was wondering if I could buy a used one from any bike or is there a certain type that I need. I did research and I could not really find anything on this. Thanks in advance.

Awesome bike!!! Although sadly I have no advice for you, I can’t say that I’m excited to see how it turns out.

Update: bought a parts cb650 with excellent rubber so I decided to just use the tires from that bike and put them on this bike. Need to make custom spacers for the rear tire but the front forks fit perfectly. I just used the front master cylinder from the cb650. Found a new tank on Facebook that is actually the tank that belongs on my bike.

I also started making a custom fibreglass seat which was really fun. Love working with fibreglass. It’s turning out alright.

Side note; I threw out my shoulder pulling the fibreglass seat off. Lol. Still deciding if I should shave off more of the sides.
