I wanted to ask about getting the chrome dust covers off the lower fork tubes, do they just pull off or is there a special way to remove these. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to work on that. They won't move at all. Are they supposed to be keyed

There's a little dimple in the bottom of the sleeve that fits into a small groove on the leg.
A slight twist and upwards pull.
They do get stuck, so try some "stuff".......

I just got a couple off a 175. It took a couple weeks of gentle heat and pb blaster. Then light taps with a aluminum block to the groove till they moved enough to work around them.

I finally got them off, had to tap all around until they were loose enough to pull off. The dimples were no where near the grooves that's why I was asking if they were keyed. they were forced on and bulging. Pretty sure I can tap the bulge back in, otherwise they are great.
