I have 68 CL125A with original points, EMGO ignition coil, Chinese carb (Keihin PD copy).
It's been running fine for years until a few month ago.
It started backfiring then stopped running all together.
Pushed it home and found that the battery was dead (0V under load.)
Installed a new battery (AGM type) but then no spark.
Installed a new ignition coil and got spark but the engine is really rough.
Very difficult to hold idle (dies in low RPM.)
If I manage to rev it in neutral, it revs fine but misfires in gear (cannot accelarate at all.)

I installed a new Chinese carb (PZ22 or something) just in case but still the same symptom.
I tried bypassing stock harness by placing jumpers from breaker point to primary coil, battery negative to engine body, etc. but still the same.

I tried to measure ignition coil secondary resistance but multimeter shows it's open. (Yet I get sparks with that coil.)
Is it possible that EMGO coil's secondary winding is floating (only connected to HT cable side) by design?
I tried the same measurement right after I bought new and got the same result (primary terminals to HT cable connection is open.)

Thanks for the quick reply.
I see arc'ing at the points also.
Just ordered one from eBay so I will try it.
