Anyone?

I just need to clear a wide rear tire. I know they do this conversion on way more powerful bikes, so I'm not worried about that. Just wondering if anyone knows a good pplace to source the parts if they are available. Thanks...

520 and 530 chain have the same pitch, 520 is just a bit narrower.....I suppose you could have your sprockets ground thinner to fit, but don't see how the 1/16 to 1/8 inch difference will add much to your clearance.....

Well, the stock chain wasn't much of an issue, but this o-ring chain is quite a bit wider. Does that sound right? Might get a normal roller chain... I'm not super educated on the ins and outs of chains, so please bear with me...

Ahhhh.... I understand now..... Most O-ring chain is too wide for the stock components...It will damage the clutch mechanism on most Honda's, (fortunately, your 400 is one of the exceptions).....If I remember correctly, 530 chain is 3/8 inch wide, 520 is 1/4 (2/8)inside measurements...Pitch (link length pin center to pin center) on both is 5/8"......HD designation means thicker sideplates and some additional overall width.... O-rings add a LOT......
Offset sprockets may be the way you need to go.....

I got a pretty good deal on the chain, so I should be able to sell it. It's only got half a mile on it anyway. I'll talk to my parts guy tomorrow about getting a non o-ring chain.

Thanks a ton for the insight, always appreciated.

wait... does someone make an offset sprocket? I have access tot he tools to build one(CNC, TIG welder) but would really just rather buy one. And does such a thing come with a matching front sprocket? I know there is some play on the front sprocket, but not too much.

Check with " Sprocket Specialists" and see if they have or can make-up what you need.
