Hi,
just got a '73 K6 running after 20+ years of dormancy, set point gap, set timing, cleaned out tank, new oil, new plugs etc. Can't get it to run very well though, the plugs are super-sooty, I've not checked the float levels, but the bike they came from holed a piston, so I'm thinking thats not where the rich condition is from. The air filters do not look terrible, but I'm considering the burn-off method or replacing them with aftermarket as the oem are just too expensive. Do you know if I can just use regular upholstery foam, or do I need to get air filter specific foam from a bike shop? Also, would you recommend going that route, or trying aftermarket? Any other thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.
