Greetings. After fixing the headlight + some wiring on my bike and getting it back on the road, the next project is to replace the dorky (hah) stock handlebars. I think I am going to buy the following, or something like these (trying to find some low black bars in Canada, if you have any tips...).

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Universal-7-8-22mm-Black-Motorcycle-Drag-Bars-Handlebar-For-Honda-Kawasaki-CA/323963144700

Anything to be aware of? My assumption is that handlebars are a relatively straightforward replacement, aside from some potential issues with cable lengths. I guess there are some wires that will need to be routed inside the bar, too? I will probably also snag some new grips, perhaps something like these:

Many thanks!

Those should work, might be a bit narrow but almost anything is an improvement for those buckhorn bars. I've been running these bars for years now, https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/renthal-street-fighter-handlebars-78 specs are at the bottom of the page.
Ah those look great; too bad they don't deliver to Canada... Thanks, will update this thread once I do the replacement.
I live in Lynnwood WA if you ever come down this way.

Can't wait to see how you do. I have a set to go on my CM400E. Just trying to decide if I want 1" risers on there.

I ran Emgo brand "Daytona" bars on my CM400C with 30mm risers from ebay, all wiring outside the bars and all stock length cables.

Before risers, not so comfortable and looked like crap:

After 30mm risers, comfortable and looks correct:

Seems like the lower (with no risers) would bother your back after a while.
The lower photo with fairing has the risers.

Oh sorry, I misread your reply... I didn't even ride it without the risers, it just felt too bad. I think another inch would have been better in retrospect.

Update: Ordered the following from FortNine for $50 CAD. Seemed like a good deal. Should arrive by early next week, will update how it goes. As an aside, I'm looking for billet/handlebar mirrors so if you have any recommendations I would be very keen to hear!

EMGO 7/8in. Universal Street Sport Handlebar

Pro Grip 719 Dual Density Road Grips - Open End

Also: getting by without risers for now since I am not terribly tall/closer to the bike. Will pick some up if the position is uncomfortable.

Cheers everyone.

Have you ever seen the need for Bar Ends ? I have the same bars you just ordered and I'm wondering wondering if they're really just for looks or if they do work ?

Also, while waiting: for those that have done a handlebar replacement, do the grips bolt off or is there glue you need to thin?
