From barn find to beauty. This was and is a beautiful example of a 81 CM400E. Seller is only the 3rd owner and the oprevious owner left this bike to die after putting ONLY 7,700km (4,800mi) on it. Bike went through a frame-off restoration, fully repainted, top-end redone, and no detail missed. Bike has a clean title, is safetied, plated, and running/used.

Bike came to me with 7700km but I replaced the piston rings to be on the safe side. Cylinders were clean, no scoring. Engine has been polished, side covers painted, new plugs and oil filter. Frame was stripped, painted, and oil guarded. The CV carbs were cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner, rejetted to run pods and an open exhaust (95 Main, 125 secondary), with new seals. Exhaust has been converted to twin single pipe straight through with chrome shorty mufflers, and titanium heat wrapped. The bike sounds sporty with a good crackle. New tires (Kenda street/touring) and brake shoes, new control cables on lowered clubman/cafe bars. Electrical was all redone, converted to in-line blade fuses, high intensity trun signals added, and headlight converted to H4 halogen.

The bike has been painted in matte black with bronze metallic highlights and topped with a flat metallic blue tank. This bike not only looks good, but it's been properly rebuilt with the important details in mind. With less than 8000km, the bike has lots of life left in it.

If you always wanted to make a cafe racer but never had the time, knowledge, or space to do it yourself, this is the ready-to-ride alternative.
